(b Peter Charles Matthews, 14 February 1955); South African artist and film director. Studied Graphic Design at the Durban Technikon in South Africa, and then worked as an Art Director in various advertising agencies.
In 1986 he was the founding partner and Executive Creative Director of Matthews and Charter. By 1992 the agency was rated in the top three most creative agencies in South Africa by Financial Mail and named South African Agency of the Year by Readers Digest.
Peter has won many local and international awards for his creative work including Cannes, New York and London International. After 16 years as creative head of M & C, Peter sold his share in the agency to Ogilvy in order to focus on his art and film directing.
Peter has had several solo art exhibitions in South Africa and Germany, and in 2007 directed his first feature film, "Oil on Water". www.oilonwater-movie.com
