Born and raised in Zimbabwe, I feel a deep connection to the African landscape and to its people. These are the base of my art.
I started my career as an Art High School teacher but was soon lured away into the world of business. I owned and operated a very successful artist supplies business for 16 years which gave me valuable in-depth knowledge on ‘the science behind the art’
and the importance of using quality materials. Selling my business in 2004, I decided to explore opportunities in the corporate world. Although I enjoyed great successes, I found that the smell of oils and canvas was more appealing. Picking up my easel again in August 2010, my days are now fulfilled.
I have reached a point in my painting where I feel comfortable with my post impressionistic style using vivid colours, thick application of paint and distinctive brush and pallet knife strokes. My paintings are each a story and most often, are created from memory. The landscapes become a backdrop for human interaction pushing the
composition aim to reflect on everyday life in Africa.
My work is held in many private collections including in Japan and Holland.
Exhibitions
Although I have not exhibited my own work, I have organised many exhibitions for other artists - both aspiring and prominent. The most memorable being an international
cultural exchange which took place in Brazil in 1994 and was hosted by the South African Embassy and the Academia Brazileira de Belas Artes.
