I am currently working as a full - time artist and facilitating adult drawing and painting lessons from my home studio in Knysna, Western Cape. My art medium of preference is currently oils on canvas.
My art is a vital means of self-expression in a never ending quest for the “ideal way” for me,personally, to achieve this.
My recent subject matter includes portraits, still life, landscapes and the wooden carved marionette.
BRIEF HISTORY:
1983 – 1996 Graphic Designer and Finished Artist, Durban, Natal. Prior to that textile designer and window display artist.
1997 - National Diploma in Fine Art 1998 at Natal Technikon
1997 - Participation in post-graduate group exhibition at NSA Gallery, Durban. Sold 2 works for
permanent collection of Tatham Gallery, Pietermaritzburg, Natal.
1998 Relocated to Knysna, Western Cape.
1999 to 2007 Established “Masizame Art and Craft Centre” Knysna where I taught art and crafts.
2001 - Solo Exhibition: Knysna Art Gallery
2008 – 2013 Participated in all annual members’ exhibitions at Knysna Art Gallery, whilst teaching at
children’s art school in “The Art Room” Old Gaol Complex, Knysna.
2013 – Participated in a puppetry course under tutorship of Master Puppet Maker, John Roberts of
PuppetCraft, Devon, UK.
2013 – Full-time artist, painting, crafting and teaching.
2014 – Exploring “the portrait” in more depth.
