Art Education
- 1952 to 1954 Ephraim Ngatane studied under Cecil Skotnes at Polly Street Art Centre, Johannesburg.
- 1954 to 1956 Studied art under Hall Duncan, an American missionary in Johannesburg.

Short Artist Biography
- 1942 Ephraim Ngatane came to Johannesburg, studied at Mooki Memorial School and Orlando High where he was encouraged to take up arts and crafts.
- 1952 Ephraim Ngatane was among the early students at Polly Street Centre.
- 1954 Assisted by Rev Hall Duncan of St Peter's College, Rosettenville; later began to teach at Jubilee Centre Johannesburg.
- 1960 Ephraim Ngatane work publicly shown for the first time on Artists of Fame and Promise Exhibition, Adler-Fielding Art Gallery Johannesburg.
- 1964 His second on-man show in Johannesburg a complete sell-out; worked mainly in watercolour and gouache, but began using oil paint; subsequent art exhibitions included oil paintings; established his own art school in Soweto; completed murals for St Mary's Church and Mooki Memorial School, Orlando.
- 1969 to 1971 Ephraim Ngatane's paintings become sought-after by South African and US art dealers; his health had been precarious for some time but his death was sudden.

- 1966 Republic Fest Exhibition, Pretoria.
