Iris Ampenberger was born in Cape Town situated in the Western Cape province of South Africa, 1916 – 1981

Art Education
Iris Ampenberger studied art at Port Elizabeth Tech Art School and Johannesburg Tech Art School in South Africa.

Short Artist Biography
- Iris Ampenberger was married to Stefan Ampenberger, with whom she traveled around South Africa, painting and exhibiting. After settling in Thaba ‘Nchu, she was invited to exhibit with the Bloemfontein Group in 1964. Works in oil and charcoal, some linocuts.
- 1972 Iris Ampenberger designed 7 relief panels for Moroko Hospital, Thaba ‘Nchu, modeled in clay and cast in cement by Stefan Ampenberger.
- 1975 Stricken by illness, which limited subsequent mobility and art activity.
- 1976 Retrospective Art Exhibition in celebration of Iris Ampenberger's 60th birthday, University of Orange Free State, Bloemfontein.
