Nicola Vinci was born in Castellaneta, Italy on 22 January 1975. He currently lives and works in Verona.
He completed his studies at the Fine Art Academy in Bari in 2001. Since then Vinci's photographs have been included in exhibitions and art fairs, both in Italy and abroad.
The Photographers Gallery is delighted to announce the first exhibition of Italian photographer Nicola Vinci's work in South Africa. The exhibition will comprise a series of fifteen colour diptych portraits, all featuring children. This is a new series of work, not yet exhibited in Europe. Nicola Vinci will be traveling to South Africa for the opening of the exhibition. He will also produce a new body of work, featuring only South African children, for exhibition in Italy next year.
Vinci's photographs are simultaneously complex and simplistic, familiar and foreign, obvious and obscure. His portraits all present themselves within this binary.
Vinci's exhibition is hosted in association with Giorgia Lucchi from Arte Boccanera Contemporanea from Italy.
