Martin K. Bulinya was born in Moiben, Kenya. He began drawing in charcoal and pencil early at age. His talent blossomed in primary school where he won many local awards. Martin Bulinya studied design at the University of Nairobi and first exhibited his paintings and drawings at the Goethe Institute in 1986, and then at the British Council in Nairobi 1993. Martin Bulinya is a very prolific artist whose work tends to be simple, yet with a mass 'African' appeal. His paintings herein are a caricature of the Maasai people. Almost all of the works exemplify true fun and interesting African art! Many of the paintings have very complex detailing into the material worn. Martin Bulinya's characters take dramatic poses, giving each one an effective emotion - you can almost hear some of the characters talking to each other!
