Venue: Fried Contemporary Art Gallery & Studio, Pretoria, South Africa
t: +27 12 3460158, [email protected], www.friedcontemporary.com
“Hush” is a loaded word only given meaning through context. It is used to comfort children after scary movies, nightmares, thunderstorms and abuse. It is equally offered to adults as blind comfort, derogatory statement of management, or a command to shut up … be silent … be not there. About her own works and “Hush,” Kay says: “Most of my works deal with fear. The kind of fear that only the individual can create for oneself. This exhibition is a query and a journey of discovery on notions of fear.”
