Pointillism
Pointillism is an art term coined by art critics in the 1880's and describes a painting created by small distinct points of primary colour placed in a such a manner as to create the impression of a wide selection of secondary colours. Pointillism relies on the perceptive ability of the eye and mind of the viewer to mix the color spots into a fuller range of tones. In art history some notable artists who used the technique of pointillism in their work include Seurat, Signac and Cross.
