Annie Pigott studied both Graphic design (majoring in childrens book illustration) and Textile design, resulting in her decision to use Silk Painting as a Fine Art medium. Annie Pigott uses seven specialised techniques in her Silk Paintings. Later on in her career she trained in Oils, Temperra and Water Colours.
Art Exhibitions
1986... First solo exhibition in Germany.
1987... "Fantasy On Fabric" Extremely succesful.
1988... "The Four Seasons" Mixed Media exhibition.
1989... Annie Pigott returned to South Africa.
1990... Huge commission to paint 20 Silk Paintings for the Marine Hotel in Port Elizabeth.This brought Annie Pigott numerous commissions for restuarants,offices,bed and breakfasts and private homes.
1992... Taught at the National Art Gallery in Port Elizabeth.
1993... Commissioned to paint 102 paintings for the Tulbach Protea Hotel in Cape Town.
1994... Travelled for a year through Europe visiting ten countries and studying various masters works from each country. Annie Pigott loved Florence,Prague and Arles.
1995... Annie Pigott opened the Annie Pigott Art Gallery in Noordhoek,Cape Town.She was invited to auction one of her largest paintings by Earl Spencer (The late Lady Di's brother) in order to raise money for Aids.
1998... Annie Pigott moved her Gallery into the Noordhoek Farm Village.
1999... Annie Pigott visited Brussels to study Oil Painting by the Old Masters,and she exhibited and taught Japanese children to paint on silk.
2000... Annie Pigott had the pleasure of living for one year on the beautiful Island of Sicily,Italy.Here she discovered her passion for Temperra Painting.She wrote and illusrated her book "Bella Sicilia" and taught Italian children art in her 400 year old Villa.
2001... Returned to Cape Town to settle and paint.Had two short visits to America...New Orleans and San Francisco.
2002... Annie Pigott is now living in and loving Noordhoek and painting full time as a professional artist and welcomes commissions from Architects and Interior Decorators as well as private homes.
