A graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg) with a degree in History of Art as well as an Honours degree in History of Art (University of Natal – Pietermaritzburg), Hercules Human is a truly multi-faceted inhabitant of the Art world.
Widely traveled he has considerable experience both as a teacher and as an initiator and facilitator of varied cultural and art-related projects. A one-time Exhibitions Curator of the Johannesburg Art Gallery, he is in his own right a gifted and visionary fine artist.
Working predominantly in the medium of oils his paintings successfully explore the tension between representational and expressionistic art forms. His vibrant use of colour and his instinctive sensitivity to the essential balance of line and form, result in work that is highly original, dynamic and unforgettable.
The considerable time that he has resided in countries like Lebanon, Syria, China and Taiwan amongst others has influenced much of his work, and his affection for and affinity with these cultures is clearly evidenced by his paintings.
His considerable experience as a Curator enables him to offer his art curatorial services on a freelance basis. Hercules is presently engaged in negotiating an exhibition of his paintings to be held in Dubai.
