Tamlin Blake's 'Birthright' explores the symbolic importance of farm animals and their slaughter within our contemporary society. She consciously explores the boundaries between accepted notions of craft and art by using various marginalised media and techniques in her art practice, including beadwork and embroidery. She then uses this as a context for engagement with issues pertaining to South African identity and cross cultural similarities and differences.

Robert Hodgins delves into the darker side of humanity with this show, using legends around the 1368 Battle of Cascina in Italy to reflect on contemporary situations of war, terror and torture. This body of work oscillates between depictions of the humiliation of humanity, and a more traditional use of portraiture, using a series of 'Giants' to explore the way in which portraiture is used to turn people into icons.

Sophie Perryer curated exhibition that explores the nebulous zones where the material and spiritual realms intersect. The selected works reflect on such phenomena as passage or transition from one state of being to another, communication with the spirits or ancestors, rebirth and reincarnation. The selected artists include Wim Botha, Ângela Ferreira, Moshekwa Langa, Mustafa Maluka, Nandipha Mntambo, Samson Mudzunga, Claudette Schreuders, Minnette Vári, James Webb and French/Algerian artist Zineb Sedira.
